Test Capabilities

As of January 2018, the BACnet Testing Laboratories Working Group (BTL WG) updated the BTL Testing Policies to require that all BACnet functionality in a product required testing for BTL Certification of the product.

The current BTL Test Package can be found on the Test Documentation Page and it includes tests for the majority of BACnet functionality defined by the Protocol_Revision identified by the BTL Test Package number. Developers should refer to the BTL Checklist to determine if the BTL Test Package covers all of the BACnet functionality in their product. For any functionality footnoted in the BTL Checklist with “Contact BTL for interim tests” the BTL Test Package may not provide complete testing. Contact the BTL Manager at btl-manager@bacnetinternational.org for a description of currently available testing for the functional areas in question.

If your device includes functionality not covered by the BTL Checklist or as footnoted asContact BTL for interim tests,” contact the BTL Manager at btl-manager@bacnetinternational.org to determine the set of tests that will be applied to your product when submitted to a Recognized BACnet Testing Organization.

BTL has been incrementally adding testing capability over the years. BTL Listings specify the Testing Requirements in place when the device was tested and thus indicates the testing capability available at the time of testing. Devices tested prior to January 2018 may include untested BACnet functionality. Since a BTL Listing document only shows tested functionality, comparing a device PICS to the BTL Listing document will highlight any untested functionality.
